The Context: sloped terrain and existing built environment, has a great influence on the spatial organization of the building. On one hand the maximum accessibility from the ground floor. On the other hand volume relates to the low buildings on the back of Den Hvide Kødby, to the taller buildings on Kødboderne and the monumental facades facing Yrsa Plads. The Façade on the Yrsa Plads forms a tower- a response to the planned towers on the middle of Dybbølsbro, and just another addition to the skyline of Vesterbro.

Siteplan

The main Urban Parameters are street and the plaza. The new volume aligns to the neighboring street facades and emphasizes the plaza in front of the Dybbølsbro bridge. A new short-cut to Den Hvide Kødby east of the plot and active facades on the ground floor ensures flow and interactions on street-level.

The architecture of Den Hvide Kødby
The materiality of Den Hvide Kødby

The Facade relates to Den Hvide Kødby with characteristic blue window-frames and a simple, repetitive, façade composition of fair-face concrete that combined with railings in open metal mesh, to preserve transparency, and sun shading in a fine metal mesh. The openings adapt to different functions with details in warm oak as an outdoor bench, a display-window, a large double door, a seating bar or a balcony with a window bench.

The programs can shift during the day, over the week, monthly and throughout the years.
Gradient of homes and workspaces

The Program consists of a range of furnished and serviced living units, work spaces and amenities. To anchor the building in the neighborhood public programs are included.

The main entrance on Skelbækgade is marked with the grass-covered canopy next to is office, workshop, microshop.
The Hall - public space where clash between work and leisure, public and private happens.
The lounge area on the first floor with co-working hall and courtyard in the background. The lounge double as common livingroom.
A studio with home-office. The work space can be used as diningroom.

Circulation within the plinth is organized as a sequence of plateaus, following the exterior terrain, connected by the main stair connecting the plateaus. All programs on the ground floor has level-free access directly from the street, and four cores provides the vertical circulation. The tower is served by a central core, and open interior stairs ensures access between groups of two floors.
